More Joy This Holiday Season: 5 tips to get ahead this Christmas
Since I design Christmas cards, I often hear comments like these…
It stresses me out!
We don’t have photos.
What’s the point?
I don’t have time.
My address book is a mess!
If sending Christmas cards doesn’t spark joy, then I agree, don’t do them. However, I love sending cards out, but I used to feel overwhelmed by the process. I didn’t have my mailing list organized. I’d forget to update old addresses. I’d order too many or too little because I wasn’t prepared.
I provide you unique designs through give with joy’s collection, so I should probably give you some tips on how to get ahead before you get too busy.
Here are my 5 tips to get ahead:
Start organizing your mailing list now by updating old addresses, asking friends/family for any you’re missing.
Create an online mailing list or set one up using Word/Excel. GWJ now offers recipient address printing or you can print them yourself. Here’s a helpful template you can use. This saves time writing out every.single.address. I also make a list of people I can hand my card too to save on stamps.
Once you have your mailing list completed, order your stamps online and have them delivered to you.
Order a return address stamp or labels saving you time and hand cramps!
Choose your photo or photos. They don’t have to be professionally done. Maybe create a collage from your family’s favorite memories and experiences from the year. Personalize it even more with a modern year-in-review.
Bonus tip: Don’t stress about when the card arrives. Shoot to have them mailed out first week in December, but a late card still delivers the same personal and meaningful message.
Small steps each day will help you find joy in sending out a Christmas card. It’s helped me.
More on sending a Holiday greeting…
It updates your family and friends on your life. Use this fun year-in-review style for your cards (it’s fun, short + sweet).
Share 5 things you’re thankful for. You can customize this option to do that.
You don’t have to mail them all out. Save the stamp and include your card alongside a gift.
It updates your family photo on grandma’s fridge!
