Savor Today card to inspire joy and prompt friends and family to do something fun!

Wow. What a month. I know everyone is feeling something. I know we are all making adjustments and looking for ways to inspire joy and serve others right now.

At home with three small children, we are busy making art, building forts - really just making one big, happy mess. They’re watching more shows, so I can sneak in some rest, quiet and to fold laundry. Always laundry.

If you’re looking for ways to distract yourself from all the you know what talk, here are 5 ideas so to inspire JOY + FUN in your home and in others…

  1. Send happy mail to friends and family. I love the idea of adding scratch off stickers to our cards right now to give friends prompts to do at home. Maybe include one that says: I’ll Venmo you $ for take out! Or stick confetti in a card to celebrate birthdays when you can’t meet face-to-face. Or leave a card and some tea at a neighbors door! You can also start a pen pal change with an elderly neighbor asking and answering questions. So many ideas here.

  2. Have a dance party with your family and virtually invite others to join you! Before bed, we turn up music and just dance for 30 minutes. It makes all things seem better!

  3. Make signs for nursing homes. With nursing homes on extreme lockdowns, consider dropping off cards, signs and art letting them know they are loved and honored.

  4. Support medical staff and hospitals. Have meals delivered to hospitals for the medical staff who are risking their own health and working hard during this intense period. Here’s a Go Fund Me page to help feed medical staff in Colorado.

  5. Make window art for neighbors to enjoy! Make signs to encourage your USPS carriers and anyone making deliveries. Paint (with washable paint) art right on your window. My kids and I love taking walks to look for fun window art. Here’s one for inspiration.

There are so many ideas out there to add more joy in our homes and others. You can download a Bucket List here. Print-at-home, trim each prompt out, put them in a basket to draw one out each day for some spontaneous fun and rest.

Let me know what you’re doing at home to support your community and ways you’re staying busy at home.

with joy,
