Thoughtful Gifting: Ideas + tips to gift with intention

Christmas is this week and if you need some help with gift ideas still, I have a few for you. I also have a few tips on ways to make the gift go beyond what’s wrapped by putting pen to paper.

Keeping this short and sweet because we’ve all been consumed with all things holiday these past few weeks.

Ideas + tips for thoughtful giving:

  1. Magazines are always fun because you can find one that fits someone’s interest. I rarely purchase them, so they’ve been fun to receive paired with something related. Here’s an example: This magazine with a new pan and cooking utensils. Perfect for a neighbor but really anyone! In the past, I was gifted a Magnolia magazine subscription. If you purchase a subscription, print out an image with a gift note to “wrap” for them!

  2. A Virtual Play Date idea list paired with books. I love this idea for grandparents who may live out of town. It’s fun and thoughtful while fostering meaningful connections. Download the printable card here.

  3. This Christmas simmer pot would be a lovely gift to drop off to a few others before the holiday season. Get their homes in the spirit with the gift of nostalgia.

  4. Subscriptions are always a fun idea! Here are a few options from GWJ that you can purchase this week to give as a gift. When you purchase a box as a gift, I will include your personal note and send you an email to print or send to the person you’re gifting one too!

  5. Date-night-in-a-box! If you are looking for a gift for a couple, consider putting a little box together that promotes quality time at home. Include a gift card, conversation cards, a fun game, a candle, nail polish, and maybe a coupon to babysit their children if they have any!

  6. You could also create a family-night-in-a-box together. Include a game, popcorn and candy with a new comfy blanket, or these cards.

  7. As an adult, sometimes a formal gift exchange with wish lists can feel like we’re simply going through the motions. And it’s ok to purchase off a wish list, but for me I like to accompany the gift with a card. I’ll share gratitude for our friendship and call out qualities I see in them.

I know that I have put the pressure on myself in the past with I think I need to spend per person, but thinking about grand over thoughtful gifts took away the joy in the experience. It doesn’t have to be grand to be meaningful. Hope this helps!

with joy,
